Scully Company is proud to announce that all of our communities have partnered with Move For Hunger to help reduce food waste and support local food pantries.

About Move For Hunger

Move For Hunger is a national non-profit organization that mobilizes transportation networks to deliver surplus food to communities in need.

Their network of socially responsible relocation companies provides customers, clients, and residents with the opportunity to donate their food when they move. Members of Move For Hunger also volunteer to host and assist with community food drives, participate in cause marketing campaigns, and create employee giving programs.

Since 2009, they have delivered more than 60 million pounds of food to food banks across the United States and Canada. That’s the equivalent of more than 50 million meals.

Why Is This Important?

More than 47 million Americans face hunger every day, including 1 in 5 children. Meanwhile, 38% of the food produced in the United States is wasted each year.

Every year, 33 million Americans relocate. If we recovered just 1 pound of food from each of them, we’d be able to provide 27.5 million meals to people all across the country.

About the Partnership

Our New England, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida communities are excited to begin this initiative.

When a resident gives notice that they are moving out of one of our communities, our team will provide them with a Move For Hunger bag and information on the program. Residents are encouraged to place any unopened, non-perishable food items that they are not taking with them and wish to donate in the bag. Once our leasing offices have collected at least 5 bags, Move For Hunger arranges for a partner to pick up the donations and deliver them to a local food bank.
